Summer is officially over and the autumn rain is beating down on us. Now’s the time to ask “What was the biggest track of the summer?” If you don’t count the obvious one (We No Speak Americano), then I’m gonna hand the title to Swedish newcomer Avicii, a.k.a. Tim Berg. Much better than the new vocal version, this original edit goes out to all my bro’s out there.

I don’t know what it is about me, but lately I’ve just been a complete sucker for David Guetta / Akon wannabe tracks (check out these productions from Rico Bernasconi for reference material). There’s quite a few out there right now, but this one is definitely the most polished of the pack. R.I.O. has released some great summer dance choons for the past couple of years and they again manage to deliver a track that will hopefully keep you warm after the hot summer months are nothing but a sweet memory.

Sometimes 1 +1 > 2. Any bootlegger would like to reach this result, but typically the score can actually be <1. In this particular case I think the DJ’s from Mars team have done an excellent job in mashing up two big tracks into something at least worth >1. It’s been ten years since Freestyler hit the international charts, so while we are waiting for JS16 to create an official anniversary version (why not? Everybody’s doing it), I’ll keep on banging this bootleg.

The annual Eurovision song contest, a.k.a. ESC 2010, is right around the corner. After a mighty disappointing set of contestants from Finland this year, it’s time to start looking elsewhere for a new country to support. While this track from France may not have all that it takes to win in the ESC, I’m pretty sure it can grow to become a winner in the summer anthem 2010 category out there in the real world. Or even World Cup 2010.

(After a continuing disappointment with YouTube’s support for RSS feeds, I also decided to take a look at alternative service providers and went with Vimeo.)

Tune of the week: Chelley – Took The Night (Grum Remix)

No matter which way you look at it, this has been my Nr. 1 track for the past couple of months now. There’s no shortage of remixes for this catchy vocal track by Chelley, but everything in the Grum version is simply spot on. Pure 80′s disco bliss in a perfect package for 2010. Lovin’ it.
